‘Peterhead Scottish Week’ was one of the ten original towns across Scotland that hosted ‘Scottish Week’ event days back in 1962. The event has continued each year and is currently the biggest and longest running weeklong

gala in the country. Peterhead is the only continuous original ‘Scottish Week’. Due to implications around Covid-19, for 2020 and 2021, a hybrid event was held that had both live and online events. ‘Peterhead Scottish Week’ was the first ‘gala’ to be broadcast online in the United Kingdom. The event is organised by a committee of volunteers that host events to entertain the public in and around the Peterhead area, along with third-party event organisers. Approximately forty events are held during ‘Peterhead Scottish Week’ that include for example, a Carnival Parade, a Dog Show, Talent Show, Fly Past, Sandcastle Competition and Fireworks Display.

A programme of events is published each year in advance that is estimated to be seen by approximately 12,000 people. ‘Peterhead Scottish Week’ manage a social media profile of over 13,000 followers.
